First art show…

Well the very first one actually happened at our house in May, so this was the first public one. I was showing my art as part of a fundraiser event (“a Night of Devotion“) last week. Thanks to all who came and made this into a special evening. Thanks to our friend Don McDaniels who did a great job of putting it all together.

I was glad it was all organized by Doni, and because it fell in the days of our annual Indian fire ceremony and retreat that we hold at our house twice a year, all I had to do was make and print, price list, statement, guestbook and put dots with numbers on the paintings and pack them in a box. It was also at the same time a release concert for our friends the Hathaway’s new CD. And because of all that I was surprise how I wasn’t nervous at all since it was out of my hands anyway. So it was quite enjoyable, lots of friends came, made compliments, and I even met some new people. Everybody seemed to enjoy the event, there was great food and great music to disperse my usual shyness of talking to people. It was nice seeing the paintings in a big room. Our friend had printed some of his photos and one of my paintings on really big canvas, quite impressive. I learned a lot and am now actually looking forward to another opportunity to show my art again.

I really appreciate “the artist way’s” approach of doing baby steps because I would have been overwhelmed about exhibiting before this event. It seemed like something that needed to be done to sell art, but this took the edge off it and made it into a fun event. Grateful to Alyson B. Stanfield and all her great advice, and to all my artist friends for their encouragement and sharing their experiences, which helped a lot.

Check the availability of original paintings in my store. Prints are available for most paintings in various sizes. Don’t hesitate to contact me for questions and inquiries.
